BECAUSE GARDENS GROW GOOD PEOPLE
At Common Threads, young people plant, tend, harvest, prepare, and eat delicious, nutritious food. Our teaching tools include wheelbarrows, shovels, seeds, soil, measuring cups, and cutting boards.
Any given day finds us munching on salad or stir-fried vegetables; using solar ovens to bake muffins or dry apples; delving into the science of soil; or visiting with chickens and turkeys.
Young people at Common Threads are encouraged to be curious, ask questions and work together to find answers, creatively and patiently solve problems, learn from mistakes, cooperate, and behave with kindness.
