Note: Our usual after-school programs are on hold due to COVID-19. We are supporting school food distribution and exploring options for outdoor, COVID-safe programming.

Common Threads offers after school programs at schools throughout the year. In reviewing school applications for after school clubs, we prioritize services to Title I schools, we try to share the love amongst as many schools as possible, and the earlier we receive your request the more likely we can fit you into our schedule.

We typically follow our in-school curriculum cycle and run the following clubs (though we can be flexible – ask if you have a different idea for your school!):

  • Gardening/Cooking Clubs
    • Fall: Garden until late October, then switch to cooking
  • Cooking Clubs
    • Winter: January-March
  •  Gardening Clubs
    • Spring: April-June

  • 1 hr – 1.5 hrs in length
  • Typically 8 week sessions (though we have done anywhere from 4 weeks – 12 weeks)
  • Two age groups to choose from: K-2 or 3-5
  • Minimum 8 participants, maximum 16 participants
  • $12 per child per week cost (example: $96 per child for an 8-week session)
  • One-time $5 registration fee per child if we do the registration – this can be waived if school manages all registration and provides us with a list of registered students
  • Nominal travel surcharge may be required
  • Two Food Educators facilitate the program
  • All program supplies provided
