The Columbia School Garden was established in 2008. This sweet garden was designed by Mardi Solomon, a Columbia Parent, and was built with the help of volunteers, generous local donors, Columbia’s Parent Association (CPA), and the School Ground Enhancement Committee.
This garden comprises a handful of raised beds with 208 square feet of growing space. The raised beds are filled with squash, beans, peas, tomatoes, garlic, strawberries, and leafy greens.A special memorial garden called Jessie’s Place honors a former Columbia student. The Columbia Garden offers a spot to sit for snack time, a quiet place to write in a journal, a space to do yoga, or a quiet place to observe the life forms that share the garden.
Columbia Elementary is located at 2508 Utter Street, Bellingham WA 98225-2799.
