The Acme Elementary School Garden was established by dedicated parents and volunteers in the community. Common Threads joined the fun in the fall of 2017, embedding garden curriculum and cooking in the classroom. This beautiful garden is surrounded by art installations created by each different class, bringing warmth on the coldest of days. A unique feature to this garden is the native species section to the right of the entrance – snowberries, spirea, and others. Among the garden beds, one could find varieties of kale, carrots, beets, potatoes, tomatoes, sunflowers, lemon balm, and much more to discover. Whether students wish to sit quietly to read a book, observe butterflies and birds, or simply sample a vegetable or fruit, this garden welcomes and nourishes all who engage with her.
