As tasted at the 2017 Harvest Dinner!
Time: Prep time 30 minute
Serves: 4-6
Ingredients:
Filling
- 5-6 apples
- 2/3 cups sugar
- 2/3 tsp cinnamon
- 2 Tablespoons flour
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
Topping
- ½ cup flour
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 4 Tablespoons butter, cold
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup oats
Materials:
- Extra butter for pan
- 9” square pan (or pie tin)
- Knives
- Cutting boards
- Apple corer
- Measuring cup
- Measuring spoons
- 2 mixing bowls
- Wooden spoon
- Pastry cutter or fork
What to Do:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Core the apples and peel the apples, place into a large mixing bowl. Combine with sugar, flour, and cinnamon.

In a medium mixing bowl, combine topping ingredients. Using fingertips, massage diced butter into dry ingredients. Butter should be in pea-sized clumps, evenly dispersed and worked into the flour oat mixture.

Pour apple filling into a greased 9’x13’ baking dish.

Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples. Bake until golden brown and bubbly, about 45 minutes.
