While there are still lots of tasks that can be done in the garden (check out Cloud Mountain’s great list), I enjoy warming up in wintertime by drinking some hot, wholesome herbal teas. You can make them easily; you can even grow your own herbs!
Here are some common herbs for tea that you can grow in your own garden, along with some of their medicinal properties:**
- Chamomile – induces calm and sleep
- Lavender – eases stress, relaxes stomach
- Mint – helps sore throat and respiration
- Ginger – good for an upset stomach, nausea, and motion sickness
- Rosemary – peaceful aroma, improves digestion
- Fennel seed – beneficial for digestion
- Sage – good for sore throats
- St. John’s Wort – a remedy against nervous disorders: insomnia, depression, anxiety
